Nettle beer and a bitter

So as Summer approaches (haha it will at some point!) and my birthday approaching I thought I’d get two brews in quick succession brewed before the B and B reopens.

The nettle beer uses fresh nettle heads from the garden – I’ve name it “Pain in the grass” the bitter is named “Irreversible” taking the mickey out of Boris always banging on about irreversibly going for a pint!

The bitter is based loosely on the London bitter from the recipe book but improvised as didn’t have exact ingredients. The wet yeast had been hanging around a while and didn’t activate so I had to add a dried yeast to do the job. Also the wort didn’t cool sufficiently enough so had to leave in the fridge overnight to cool before adding. So we’ll see how it turns out.
